Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Writing Centers Association

The purpose of the PNWCA is to further the theoretical, practical, and political interests of writing center professionals, and to encourage dialogue about writing and learning among students, faculty and staff. Membership includes writing center staff from Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington and the Yukon.

Founded and affiliated with the International Writing Centers Association in 2004, the PNWCA and its officers truly wish to represent the needs unique to writing centers in our North American geographical region.

If you're a writing center professional from the region--and, yes, that includes writing tutors, consultants, assistants, and graduate teaching assistants--then we invite you to create an account, explore this site's resources, ask questions, and join conversations.

PNWCA report to IWCA for spring 2010

This is our biannual report to the International Writing Centers Association. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this report! -Teresa

A Big Bunch of Thanks!

Thanks so much for the hospitality the folks in Ellensburg extended to everyone at this year's conference. The Evergreen staff have been contacting me and posting on our Moodle site with their insights from the Conference. Hosting an event of this magnitude requires a herculean effort on top of the regular day-to-day operations of a writing center staff and PNWCA Board. The Evergreen Writing Center staff and I are grateful to Teresa and all the folks at Central and to the members of the PNWCA who made this year's event memorable, inspiring, and CENTRAL to our on going work.

Thanks for Conference/ Election Results

Like many others this morning I am sifting through many thoughts from the conference, happy to have been there and, though I am tired now, looking forward to implementing several new ideas I picked up this weekend. I also continue to be grateful for everyone's contributions to the gathering and to feel honored to be part of this terrific group.
